Have you ever wanted to get a special gift made for someone, a nice present to yourself, or make an amazing suit covered in patches for your wedding? Do you find yourself sick of covering up all your tattoos with boring old clothing? Are your daily wearable fabrics plain and dull? If you have been wanting to make your denim jacket extra special and unique but didn’t know how, then this is the place to be. Get something embroidered, embellished, or patched up with a custom embroidery.

LA Chainstitch can make any idea or thought come to reality in embroidered form! Let’s make your patched jacket dreams come true. Below are some common questions and a link to get you started with your custom project.

  • Yes, for the most part I can make any image into a patch for you. The smaller the design, the harder it is for there to be fine detailed work. We can work together to figure out the best option for your design, and what size will work best for it. If you don’t have a design but have a general concept, Id be happy to design something for you! I have a lifetime of experience drawing and designing images. Let’s make something fun!

  • I can do either one! If you have a really special item of clothing, or giving a special gift to someone, direct to garment is always nice. If you are unsure of the jacket you may want to embroider, or still hunting for that perfect vintage fit, I would then suggest a patch. It can always be moved around on to different items if you want in the future. For direct to garment please know you will have to cover shipping both ways.

  • Denim and canvas style jackets seam to work best for chainstitch, but many other items can be embellished as well. As long as the item isn’t too thin, or too loose knit, you should be okay. You can always send me a picture, or a link to an image if you are unsure, and we can go from there.

  • Thats a great question! For simple embroideries or patches, usually around 10-14 days. Larger projects, such as jackets, and more time intensive designs can take anywhere from 2 - 4 weeks. If you need your project done faster than that, a rush option is available for an additional fee.

  • Iron on backing can be added to any patch, but I would still recommend sewing it on. Ask your friend with a sewing machine, sew it on by hand, or bring it to your local dry cleaner or tailor. They should be able to stitch it on quickly!

  • A lot of factors go into pricing a custom patch. Size, amount of color, detail, design work, etc. Generally custom work starts at $100 to $150 and goes up from there. Price completely varies depending on size and complexity of your design.

  • Since the process of chain stitch embroidery is still very much done by hand, and only one piece can be done at a time, the overhead never gets cheaper ;). However, for simple monograms, there is some wiggle room as the quantities increase.
